Jasper is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies with stunning mountain scenery, wildlife watching and stargazing.
Emerald lakes, glacial peaks, crashing waterfalls, deep canyons, evergreen forest – Jasper is the biggest national park in the Canadian Rockies and one of the largest accessible Dark Sky Preserves in the world.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers over 11,000 sq km, filled with wildlife including elk, moose, big-horned sheep, bears and wolves. The more adventurous can try ice climbing and rafting, while hiking and mountain biking are more leisurely ways to take in the scenery.
The town of Jasper, which began life as a 19th century mining hub along the Athabasca River, is the gateway to the park. Taking the Jasper Skytram up to over 2,200 metres is one of the best ways to admire the jaw-dropping views.
